Modified on November 11th, 1998!
This site is dedicated to those SCM's who use ClearCase
as their Configuration Management tool of choice (even if that
choice was between using ClearCase or finding a new job).
This site will discuss various ways and means of using ClearCase
as a Configuration Management tool, what makes ClearCase different,
and an FAQ for ClearCase Administrators.
Have fun. Like all Web pages, this page is being continuously
updated. If you have any information that you wish to add, shell
or Perl scripts that you would like to contribute, or your own
tips, please Email me at

I produced this page for several reasons:
- People have been pestering me about my lack of a Web page.
I mean, I claim to be this really with it computer geek,
but I don't have a Web page. "How can this be?" asked my many, many
friends. I told them that I simply didn't have anything to say. but
as my friends pointed out, that hasn't stopped
anyone
else.
- There was a need for a ClearCase Webpage. There are many
excellent SCM links (see Brad Appleton's excellent
Web page
) around the Internet, and I highly recommend you to explore
them. However, many basic concepts involved setting up and running
Source Configuration Management tools simply don't apply to
ClearCase.
- Unlike many of the other high end Source Configuration Mangament
systems on the market, ClearCase doesn't require a site to adopt
a particular paradigm in order to use the system. Unfortunately,
because ClearCase simply doesn't work like other Source Configuration
Management systems, and because of the wide variety of tools available
under ClearCase, many sites have problems using ClearCase.
- What does the I "burning heart" CC logo mean?
- My weak attempt to spruce up this page instead of wasting
my time providing useful content. The logo symbolizes the
love/hate relationship that many Souce Configuration Managers
have with ClearCase. At times, you can really appreciate it's
power and ease. At other times, you want to throttle the
whole package because your build failed last night because
a programmer forgot to check back in a directory.
- What is the background picture?
- The background picture shows a file tree similar as it appears under the ClearCase graphic brower.
- Hey, why no picture of you or your family?
- This page was designed with the help of a serious computer oriented focus group (the people in the cubicles around me). It was revealed by this focus group that those who are looking for pictures of people on the Internet are not searching for pictures of 40 year old, overweight men. And, if you are a type of person who is searching for pictures of middle age, middle bulge males, I am not all that certain I would really want to show you my picture.
- How did you make your Webpage?
- I did it the old fashion hand crafted way by hewing this page directly
in VI. Which
is why I can proudly display the VI Powered logo. Yep, no girly-man sissified WYSWUG editors for me! Not if I have to pay for them with my own money.

All the graphics on these pages were done with
Canvas by Deneba
Software. I'm not that good in VI.
This page contains no time wasting, memory consuming Java apps,
no forever to load annimated GIFs, no stupid Web tricks to display
information that you aren't interested in (like the number of people who've seen this page), and most important of all no cookies!.
I built this page to inform and not to impress. Of course, there
aren't any pictures of
nekkid wimmin on here, but one cannot have everything.
